Construction Controller

Position Overview
Based in Fort Worth, TX we are an established construction contractor doing over $50M a year in revenue. Currently, we've got an accounting department of about 6 members and we're looking for a Controller to manage this team and spearhead our accounting operations.

The Construction Controller will oversee the financial operations of construction projects, ensuring accuracy in accounting and compliance with industry regulations. This role is crucial for managing project budgets, job costing, and payroll processes, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee all aspects of project accounting including job costing and payroll administration.
Prepare accurate financial reports and forecasts for construction projects.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies in all financial operations.
Collaborate with project managers to analyze project costs and profitability.
Conduct audits and due diligence to ensure financial integrity and identify areas for improvement.
Implement and maintain financial controls to optimize project performance.
Support training initiatives for accounting and financial staff in the construction division.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of job costing, payroll processes, and project accounting principles.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage 300 or Timberline.
Experince with Microsoft Office Suite
CPA certification is preferred but not required.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of construction financial metrics such as percent to completion and work in progress.
